well now i know...

what makes a car window go up and down! and no it's not the button, well not entirely. apparently there are these clips that hold the window and attach it to whatever holds the window, i didn't exactly get that part, and if they come off or break then the clips have to be glued back on to the window or it won't go up or down the motor will just whirr and whirr and whirr and do nothing. there is only a 50/50 chance that the adhesive will work, some times it doesn't and the only way to get new clips is to order a whole new glass...quite pricey i might add. so my window has been glued and i got a good deal, i just love day chevrolet's service department and not just cause they have do nuts either! they've been good to me for the last three cars. and they washed my car too! now that the window is fixed i'm afraid to use it anyway in case the glue doesn't hold and it breaks. ah well. i think i'll do some pricing on new glass in case it does break and go from there, maybe after the glue cures the rest of the day and night i'll use the window only if the weather man calls for NO RAIN! i was window shopping in the show room and found a gorgeous new monte carlo ss, i was tempted but i want to have my monte for a while longer! the guy took a few ganders at some suv's to replace the current suv which does not meet his expectations but sadly none of them are quite as good as the old roadmaster, may she rest in peace!

the only knitting that was done today was in the waiting room at the car dealer and i got a few rows of my latest sock done waiting for the final assembly of the door and car wash. i also got a little shopping done on the way home and got my free stamps from the foodland...it's thursday night you know.

the three year old is recovering nicely from his tonsilectomy, the operation went well and his prognosis is great, he was so troubled by his enlarged tonsils and adenoids that he is expected to be a whole different kid! i hope not too different because i think he is just such a cool kid as he is! but for now he just has to heal and drink! his sister will spend some time with us this weekend and hopefully we'll have nice weather and the guy will feel good enough to take in the twin lakes arts fest!!! love that art, love that junk food!!! they always have local hand spun yarn so since i've become such a knitting fool i may have to indulge! i'm hoping for a spinning demo as well! it's way past my bedtime so nite all...love g

for dinner tonight...

we had scallops and mango and wheat pasta but not before i finished my third pair of socks and i like them!!! they are made from a cotton & wool blend yarn from regia. as i said this is my third pair. the first was all wool and very large but it was more or less an exercise and i liked it and my guy is nice enough to wear them ocassionally to please me! so i moved on to all cotton with some elastic and used a lacey pattern which was very pretty and the yarn was way cool but lacey pattern on socks is not my idea of a comfortable sock, especially since they were bulky enough that i would have worn them with loafers or tennis shoes or more likely with boots since i don't wear tennis shoes and these were just not me so i gave them to my mom who loves seamless socks and loves mauve...she must have the fanciest socks on the golf course! now these socks are just the right size and the yarn is very comfortable but...you knew there would be a but... when i cast on the second sock i made the stitches a wee bit tighter than the first sock and it's too tight on my leg unless i slouch them and they are too warm for me with the bit of wool in them but who cares i don't wear socks in the summer at all and i didn't make them for myself i made them for the guy and they aren't too tight on his leg.
what's up with that? do i have fat legs? i must, i remember once my mom told me i had fat legs, never mind that everyone else asks if i eat or if i'm anorexic, she said i had FAT legs but come to think of it lately no one has said are you anorexic so...well anyway. the socks are done and they fit their rightful owner and i'm off to start another pair...and to watch the second half of the broken trail on the big tv!!! later love g

black bean soup and pop toes...

that's what i'm up to today. it's getting harder and harder to watch that guy of mine choke on his food. he needs to have another dilation of his esophagus and is putting it off until a more convient time. he has plans man, big plans! eyes need examined, motorhome needs cleaned and de-winterized,and the grandson is getting his tonsils out next week and he really wants to be there with the daughter especially since the son in law is out of town...out of state...out of country! i used to eat vegetarian but selling that to the guy is another story. he likes his meat! due to the choking i've pretty much given up on meat, it's not just meat he chokes on but meat isn't good for you anyway so i'll start there. next stop chocolate! today we've had pancakes, ham salad, fudgsicles, and i'm currently making black bean soup and jasmine rice! the black bean soup has meat in it but i'm cooking the hell out of it so it's tender. i love black bean soup. we, the guy and i, are practicing being retired today. doing not-a-thing and we're quire good at it! i've listed some stuff to sell on ebay, put my last pop portrait up for the self portrait challenge, blogged, cleaned up a little and done the dishes from the past three days and taken pictures of my toes! ive decided i'd best not retire or i'd never shave my legs or wash my hair or get dressed completely or bathe! so i'm not retiring...just yet! see you at work tomorrow! later...love g

it's all about...

knitting and about other things. not just knitting. i'm trying something new so we'll just see about this...how about lets add a photo. that worked out ok and by the by this is a waterfall in a creek on some property we looked at in addison, pa. it was lovely and i wouldn't mind at all waking up to it every day but not much chance of that happening, won't pass a perc test so...on to new photos huh?before i do that though let me tell you this. on the way up the mountain that day i tried being a dog...again. i do that a lot. dogs really know how to live. so i stuck my head out the window with the dog and...never mind i can't find that pic right now so how about this one...

i actually got a bit of hiking in that day and so did the guy and his husky!ok so none of thes pics went where i imagined they would so let me try to rearrange...ooh that worked out a little better. now i realize that you probably have no idea what i'm talking about but i've been experimenting with moving things around while writing this, my maiden post on this blog site. some things are working, maybe. some are not quite working but i'll sign off and go away for a while now anyway. i have many things to do other than this which i have been doing most of this day. these things take time though so off i go and later...love g
